Polyvine Heavy Duty Varnish—formerly named Heavy Duty Wood Varnish
This is an eco-friendly, ultra-tough, high quality cross linking water-based polyurethane varnish that dries to a crystal clear film.
Polyvine Heavy Duty Varnish provides superior protection against heat, water, stains, abrasion, alcohol, oils, household chemicals and cleaning products. It is ideal for coasters, trays, tabletops, furniture, cabinets and other indoor surfaces that will experience frequent handling or wear.
It dries in 30 to 60 minutes and cures in only 16 hours!
Why Choose Polyvine Heavy Duty Varnish?
-
Ultra-Tough Protection: The advanced cross linking polyurethane formula dries to an extremely hard, durable finish that protects against everyday wear and tear.
-
Ideal for High-Wear Surfaces: Use it on coasters, serving trays, tabletops, furniture, cabinets, shelving and other surfaces that receive frequent use.
-
Heat and Water Resistance: This varnish is an excellent choice for projects that may encounter hot mugs, warm dishes, beverage spills or regular wiping and cleaning.
-
Stain and Chemical Resistance: The cured finish resists alcohol, oils, household chemicals, cleaning products and common stains.
-
Fast Drying and Curing: It dries in approximately 30 to 60 minutes and reaches full cure in approximately 16 hours.
-
Crystal Clear Finish: The varnish dries clear and is available in Satin or Dead Flat, allowing you to choose a soft sheen or completely matte appearance.
-
Food-Safe: According to the manufacturer all Polyvine water-based products are food-safe after curing.
-
Easy Cleanup: Brushes and application tools clean up easily with soap and water before the varnish dries.
For a Durable Dead Flat Finish: Apply two coats of Satin followed by one coat of Dead Flat. The Satin builds the strongest protective layers, while the final Dead Flat coat removes the sheen.
For Decoupage Projects: Allow all paint, adhesive and paper layers to dry and cure fully before applying Heavy Duty Varnish. For best results, use Polyvine Decorator's Varnish to adhere napkins or lightweight rice paper, then finish with Heavy Duty Varnish when greater resistance to heat, moisture and wear is needed.
For Non-Wood Surfaces: When using Heavy Duty Varnish on metal, laminate, tile, glass, ceramic or plastic, first apply one to two coats of Polyvine Multi-Surface Lacquer to provide the necessary adhesion.
Need an even larger size?
Heavy Duty Varnish is available in 4 Liter bottles. This larger size is not kept in stock. For assistance with this size, please use our store contact form. We are happy to arrange drop-ship orders directly from our Polyvine distributor.
Appearance: Polyvine varnishes may appear milky white, cloudy, or clear in liquid form—this is completely normal and varies based on the finish type. Once dry, they become crystal clear, exceptionally durable, and deliver the intended sheen level.
Helpful Crafting Tip: When layering paints, decoupage mediums, stains, or finishes, it's always a good idea to test your full project combination first on a small hidden area or scrap surface.
