Rose Gold Magic: Create Stunning Christmas Ornaments

Step 1: Prep Your Ornament Base

Start by painting your ornament blank with Dixie Belle Paint in Cotton, available at DecoupageNapkins.com. This white base ensures the vibrant colors of your rice paper design pop. Paint both sides and let it dry for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Decoupage Your Design

Cut out your desired image from the Winter Birds Rice Paper, mist it with water to make it pliable, and use Polyvine Decorators Varnish (Dead Flat Finish) as your adhesive. Press down the edges with a misted plastic bag for a smooth finish. Let each side dry before moving to the next.

Step 3: Add Trim with Clay

Create a decorative trim using Das Clay. Mold the clay to the edges of your ornament, trim the excess, and freeze it for 20 minutes to ensure clean removal from the mold. Attach the clay to your ornament with tacky glue and let it dry overnight.

Step 4: Paint, Embellish and Top-Coat

Once the clay is dry, paint it with Pentart Paint in Rose Gold. The metallic finish blends beautifully with the rice paper colors. Let the paint dry for an hour. Next, Donna top-coats with multiple layers of Polyvine satin finish varnish.

Step 5: Create a Crackle Effect

For a textured finish, use Pentart Fineline Crackle Varnish, a two-step system. Apply Component #1, let it dry, then brush on Component #2 for fine cracks. Highlight these cracks with Pentart Antique Paste for added depth.

Step 6: Seal and Protect

Seal your ornament with Pentart Solvent-Based Varnish. This glossy finish is UV- and moisture-resistant, ensuring your ornament remains beautiful for years.

Step 7: Add Glitter and Finishing Touches

Use this same Pentart varnish as an adhesive to apply rose gold glitter around the edges and in clay cracks. Add a bow made with the Mini Bowdabra tool, accented with red berries and a tassel for extra charm.

Step 8: Highlight Details

Enhance the clay's texture with Pentart Metallic Wax Rub in White Pearl, adding subtle, bright highlights to the embellishments.
